Nell R. Pope

Nell R. Pope, 88, nee McGaugh, of Hereford, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Central Church of Christ in Hereford with John Henley, minister, officiating.

Interment followed in the Morton Cemetery in Morton.

Arrangements were under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford where visitation was held Friday evening, Oct. 30.

Mrs. Pope was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Hemming, the daughter of William Guy McGaugh and Rosalee Nance McGaugh.

She married T.B. White on June 10, 1944, in Dallas.  He died in March 1966. She later married George Pope in September 1977 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He preceded her in death Dec. 28, 2001.

A 1944 Frisco High School graduate, Mrs. Pope owned and operated Nell’s School Store in Morton for 20 years.

She was active in the Hereford Culture Club, serving in all offices.  She was also chosen as Woman of the Year in the club.

She was a member of Central Church of Christ.

Mrs. Pope is survived by one son, three daughters and spouses, including Bill and Donna White, of Fredericksburg; Judy and Garry Embry, Cache, Oklahoma; Susan Worley, Hereford, and Rosa and Bob Collier, Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

Survivors also include seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one brother, Roy McGaugh, of Denton.
