Elizabeth Jung Powers

Elizabeth Jung Powers, 98, of San Antonio, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, Nov. 5, in San Antonio, with interment following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Fredericksburg.

Mrs. Powers was born Dec. 17, 1916, in San Antonio, the daughter of Felix Jung and Katie Keller Jung. She married Jimmy Powers in 1941. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1990.

When she was five years old, her family moved to Fredericksburg, where she was raised by her father and grandmother, Mary Kruse, and attended St. Mary’s School.

She was a longtime member of the St. Mary Magdalen Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of America.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Cliff Thompson; two granddaughters, two great-grandchildren and a brother, Eugene Jung.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Powers was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Catherine Powers; a grandson, Matthew Thompson, and two brothers, Clemens Jung and Raymond Jung.

Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
