
MRS. EUGENE JENSCHKE
Mrs. Eugene Jenschke, 94, nee Ruby Elizabeth Hopf of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
A funeral mass was celebrated Wednesday, June 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stonewall with the Rev. Jim Harnan officiating. DeAnn Hampton was the organist, and Lottie Demel, the vocalist.
Interment followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Fredericksburg.
Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and vigil-rosary services were held Tuesday evening, June 17.
Mrs. Jenschke was born Aug. 31, 1919, in the Luckenbach community, the daughter of August Hopf and Erna Doebbler Hopf. She married Eugene Jenschke on Oct. 8, 1940, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 1970.
She was a former resident of the Luckenbach community, and was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church at Stonewall where she was a member of the St. Rose Society. As a child, she attended the Luckenbach School.
Mrs. Jenschke is survived by two sons, two daughters and spouses, including Travis and Sandra Jenschke, Billy and Barbara Jenschke and Dianne and Gordon Eckert, all of Fredericksburg, and Kathy and Henry Duecker of Stonewall.
Survivors also include 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law, Alice Hopf of Llano and Rita Pahl of Fredericksburg.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Jenschke was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Hopf.
Memorials may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.
Pallbearers included Craig Jenschke, Barrett Jenschke, Jason Eckert, Don Duecker, Johnny Duecker and Glen Duecker.
