MARVIN E. JANDER
Marvin E. Jander, 84, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, June 1, 2014.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 4, at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rick Hartmann officiating.
Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
Jander was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Marlin, the son of Rudolph Jander and Ida Kuretsch Jander. He married Margaret Peggy Grissom on Jan. 27, 1967, and she survives.
Jander served four years in the United States Navy.
After attending college, he became a state trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety. He was also employed by Allen Keller Co.
After retiring as a trooper, he worked as a deputy sheriff for the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office.
He also served on the Hill Country Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
In addition to his wife, Jander is survived by three daughters and spouses, including Trudy and Doug Laird of Cedar Hill; Barbara and Alan Eden, Fort Worth, and Shelly and Charles Patterson, Spartanburg, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a sister, Anita Henderson of Dallas; a brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Lorene Jander of Brenham; a brother-in-law, Robert Dutschmann of Gladewater, and a sister-in-law, Joann Easterday of Hewitt.
Jander was preceded in death by his parents, as well as six siblings: Irene Quandt, Bert Jander, Leonard Jander, Clarence Jander, Ethel Mae Dutschmann and Gene Edward Jander who died in infancy.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Hill Country Memorial Hospital, Pedernales Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.
Pallbearers included Doug Laird, Mason Laird, Samuel Laird, Alan Eden, Matthew Eden and Orrie Vaughn.
Honorary pallbearers were Dale Jander, David Jander, Dwight Jander, Craig Bennion, Louis Charles Jander, Larry Jander, Marcel Vanhaze and Al Brodbeck.
