Mrs. Arthur Koennecke Sr.

Mrs. Arthur Koennecke Sr., 101, nee Gertrude Eichholz of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 4, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Pam Traver officiating.

Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Koennecke was born March 28, 1913, in Kendall County, the daughter of Max Eichholz and Emma Toepfer Eichholz. She married Arthur Koennecke Sr. on May 24, 1933, in Kerrville. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1992.

Mrs. Koennecke is survived by one son, two daughters and spouses, including Arthur and Lynette Koennecke Jr. and Dorothy and Vernon Brodbeck, all of Fredericksburg, and Betty Solbrig of Arkansas.

Survivors also include seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She is also survived by two sisters, Elizabeth, Mrs. H.C. Seidensticker of Comfort and Doris Maloukis and her husband, Tim, of San Antonio.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Koennecke was preceded in death by four brothers, including Kurt Eichholz, Otto Eichholz, Erno Eichholz and Gerhard Eichholz.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Wounded Warriors or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Steve Olfers, Rick Brodbeck, Mark Solbrig, Blake Barnard, Chris Bishop, Sean Ohlrich and Curtis Tatsch.

Honorary pallbearers were Denise Bishop, Melissa Ohlrich, Lisa Olfers, Sheila Tatsch and Toki Wilson.
