JAMES ANTHONY (JIMMY) KAMMLAH

James Anthony (Jimmy) Kammlah, 69, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, March 16, 2015, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist, and Donna Durst, the vocalist.

Interment followed at the Friedrich Family Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a vigil service, led by Deacon Patrick Klein, was held Tuesday evening, March 17.

Kammlah was born March 31, 1945, in Fredericksburg, the son of Edwin Edward Kammlah and Paula Kunz Kammlah. He married Sandra Louise Friedrich on May 5, 1965, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and she survives.

A St. Mary’s High School graduate, Kammlah started his career in the electrical and HVAC field while he was in high school.

He eventually opened his own business, W-K Electric, which he operated for 34 years.

He also served six years in the United States Army Reserves, receiving an honorable discharge.

In addition to his wife, Kammlah is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kyla and Travis West of Fredericksburg, and four grandchildren.

Kammlah was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kody J. Kammlah; his step-mother, Leona Jacoby Langbein Kammlah; one brother, Lawrence (Larry) Kammlah, and his parents-in-law, Heinrich and Flora L.L. Land Friedrich.

Memorials may be made to the Friedrich Family Cemetery, St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or Hill Country Memorial Home Healthcare.

Pallbearers included Travis West, Forrest West, Ethan West, Chris Semmler, Kris Kammlah and Jimmy Bernhard.

Clinton Herber, 80, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, March 19, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Willow City Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

James William Clark II

JAMES WILLIAM CLARK II

James William Clark II, 70, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, March 14, 2015.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Scott Janysek officiating. Jim Korman was the vocalist, and Bill Smallwood played the trumpet.

Graveside services with full military honors and interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening, March 16, and Tuesday morning, March 17.

Vigil services and a rosary led by St. Joseph’s Society was also held Monday evening.

Clark was born Nov. 8, 1944, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of James William Clark and Anna Florence Nicholson Clark. He married Ruby Lee Crenwelge on April 1, 1967, and she survives.

A 1962 graduate of Eastmoor High School, Clark enlisted in the United States Army and served in communications at the White House in Washington, DC, and the Texas White House at Stonewall, under President Lyndon B. Johnson.

After his military service was complete, he attended the University of Texas at Austin, receiving his doctor of jurisprudence degree.

Over the years, Clark served in a variety of roles in community organizations. He was one of the organizers of the early wild game dinners which raised money to preserve historical landmarks in the county. He was a Scoutmaster of Doss Boy Scout Troop 132, and was the first honorary life member of Die Künstler von Fredericksburg.

A member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Clark was an active member of St. Mary’s ACTS.

In addition to his wife, Clark is survived by two daughters, two sons and spouses, including Kathy and Michael Adams, of Bertram; Jimmy and Kathy Clark and Nick and Noel Clark, all of Harper, and Crystal Clark of Fredericksburg, and nine grandchildren.

He is also survived by two brothers, one sister and spouses, including Roger and Jill Clark, of Delaware, Ohio; Robert and Sandy Clark, Columbia, South Carolina, and Kathy Clark,  Columbus, Ohio.

Survivors also include the following brother-in-law and sisters-in-law and spouses: Daniel and Gloria Crenwelge, Emily and Marion Baethge and Harriet, Mrs. Clayton Crenwelge, all of Fredericksburg, and Genevieve and Clarence Voight, of Comfort.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law; a sister-in-law, Shirley Crenwelge, and a brother-in-law, Clayton Crenwelge.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s ACTS, Harper Boy Scout Troop 139, or the St. Joseph’s Halle Restoration Fund.

Pallbearers included Dennis Baethge, Danny Crenwelge, Stephen Baethge, Brian Kirchner, Tommy Crenwelge and Clayton Clark.

Allen E. Adams

Allen E. Adams, 89, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 21, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with Chaplain William Karlson officiating. Visitation was held beforehand.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Adams was born Nov. 24, 1925, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Allen McKinney Adams and Mary Lindeman Adams. He married Elaine Eisele on June 20, 1947, in Fort Worth, and she survives.

A World War II veteran, Adams served in the United State Army Air Corps.

In addition to his wife, Adams is survived by a son, Duane Adams, and a son-in-law, Mark Seitz, both of Fredericksburg; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, Adams was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Seitz, and a sister, Rose Kouns.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Patricia Ann Thiele, 73, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Tuesday, March 31, from 5-7 p.m., and Wednesday, April 1, from 7:30-9:45 a.m.

A vigil service will be held Tuesday, March 31, at 6 p.m., at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Henry Beckmann, 93, nee Lottie Stehling, of Stonewall, died Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Wednesday, April 1, from 5-7 p.m., and Thursday, April 2, from 7-9:45 a.m.

A rosary service will begin at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, at the funeral chapel.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 2, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with entombment following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.

Mrs. George Greene, 80, nee Margot Gordon of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, March 29, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m., Tuesday, in the funeral chapel.

Private graveside services and interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.

Marilyn Sue Smith Walker

MARILYN SMITH WALKER

Marilyn Sue Smith Walker, 73, of San Antonio, died Thursday, March 19, 2015.

Graveside services and interment were held Tuesday, March 24, at 9 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Arrangements were under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home in San Antonio where visitation was held Monday evening, March 23.

Mrs. Walker was born Oct. 6, 1941, in Mason, the daughter of Jack and Eloise Smith. She married Stephen Walker on Dec. 28, 1966. He preceded her in death.

She retired from the North East Independent School District where she was the principal’s secretary at Clear Spring Elementary School for almost 20 years.

Prior to that, she volunteered  her time to the various military communities the Walkers lived in from Texas to Germany, from leading her daughters’ Brownie/Girl Scout Troop to serving as the community mayor under Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf while stationed in Mainz, Germany, from 1978-1982.

Mrs. Walker is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John and Jeannette Walker of Live Oak, and a daughter, Donna Taylor, of San Antonio, and three grandchildren.

She is also survived by one sister, four brothers and spouses, including Maydell and Lester Vollmar, of Fredericksburg;  Billie Jack Smith, Hondo; Jim and Carmen Smith, San Mateo, California; Jerry and Lupe Smith, Mason, and Tommy and Mona Smith, San Angelo.

Survivors also include her step-mother, Mary Smith, and half siblings, Danny Smith, Kelly Smith and Jesse Luré McFadin.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her daughter, Stephanie Hamilton, and step-father, Ervin Hoerster.

Mrs. George Greene, 80, nee Margot Gordon of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Visitation began at 1 p.m. in the funeral chapel.

Private graveside services and interment were held at Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Greene was born Aug. 12, 1934, the daughter of Frank E. Gordon and Esther Massingham Gordon. She married George I. Green on June 6, 1969, in Baytown.

Mrs. Green is survived by six daughters, including Kathy Carroll; Ann Haylock and her husband, Harvey; Nancy Taylor; Cheryl Greene Terry; Sandra Greene Bass, and Dr. Georgeanne Greene.

She is also survived by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one brother and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospital or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Beckmann was born Aug. 11, 1944, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of John Kinsey and Bernita Rowlands Kinsey. She married Jerry Beckmann on Jan. 14, 1983, in Kerrville, and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Beckmann is survived by one daughter and two sons, including Mike Herbort of Fredericksburg; Jay Herbort, California, and Laralee Barthels and her husband, Rusty, of Fredericksburg.

Survivors also include four grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Diane Kinsey of California, and Sandy Ransleben and her husband, Brian, of Fredericksburg.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Beckmann was preceded in death by a brother, David Kinsey.

Herbert Milton (Bill) Adams Jr.

HERBERT MILTON (BILL) ADAMS JR.

Herbert Milton (Bill) Adams Jr., 85, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

No services have been planned.

Adams was born Oct. 16, 1929, in San Antonio, the son of Herbert Milton Adams Sr. and Florence Mina Hulda Durst. He married Peggy Jean Mize in 1950. She preceded him in death in 2013.

A 1948 graduate of Boerne High School, Adams graduated from Chaffey College with an associate’s degree in electronics; Pomona College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and California State University, San Bernardino, with a master’s degree in special education.

The Adams family lived in San Antonio before moving to Copperas Cove and eventually leaving Texas for New Mexico, Massachusetts and eventually California.

He was a cowboy on a ranch, worked for the Southern Pacific railroad, served in the U.S. Navy, was an electronics technician (working on some of the components in the first manned moon missions) and was a teacher.

He started the first program in California, at Chaffey College, for students with learning and physical disabilities.

He and his wife retired to Fredericksburg in 1997.

Adams is survived by two sons and one daughter, including Douglas Richard Adams, Rockport; Dr. Linda Annette Adams, San Diego, California, and Dr. William Mark Adams of Durham, North Carolina.

He is also survived by two grandchildren, and one sister, Barbara Jean Martin, of San Antonio.

In addition to his wife and parents, Adams was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Ray Adams.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.

Eugene Gordon Geistweidt, 90, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Friday, April 3, from 2:30-5:30 p.m., and Saturday, April 4, from 8 a.m.-12:45 p.m.

Donna L. Ketchbaw, 73, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015, as the result of injuries received in a motor vehicle accident.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, April 6, at the chapel at Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

 

DORATHEA KAISER JACKSON FRANZ

Died Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at the age of 90 years.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 6, from 5-7 p.m., at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 7, at 9:30 a.m., at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville.

Interment will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Harper.

Memorials may be made to the Harper Volunteer Fire Department and EMS or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.

 

ANNA B. FORRESTER

Anna B. Forrester, 92, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation will be held Saturday, April 4, from 2-4 p.m.

Graveside services and interment will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 6, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.

Patricia Ann Thiele, 73, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

A vigil service was held Tuesday evening, March 31, at the funeral chapel.

Ms. Thiele was born May 27, 1941, at Rocksprings, the daughter of Marvin Henry Thiele and Mary Theresa Rischner Thiele.

She worked at Hill Country Memorial Hospital as a ward clerk and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Norma, Mrs. Kermit Thiele.

Ms. Thiele was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Kermit Andrew Thiele.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Parish Capital Campaign, Hill Country Community Needs Council or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Lawrence Zenner, Aloysius Leopold, Duane Holmes, Kenneth Klein, Victor Sanchez and Jay Woods.

Mrs. Kenneth Raymond, 94, nee Hazel Irma Barnett of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Raymond was born July 11, 1920, in Deweyville, the daughter of William Charlie Barnett and Rosa Cranford Barnett. She married Kenneth Raymond on Aug. 20, 1959, in Lubbock, and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Raymond is survived by two sons, OJ (Jerry) Hanna of Brownwood and John and Sherry Hanna of Fredericksburg.

Survivors also include three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Edna, Mrs. Gordon Raymond, and a sister-in-law and spouse, Carol and Leo Neis, all of Wisconsin.

Mrs. Raymond was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Jerry Hanna Jr.
