BETTY NIXON DeYOUNG

Betty Nixon DeYoung, 84, of Houston and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 27, at Broussard’s Mortuary in Nederland with the Rev. Dr. Don Higginbotham officiating.

Interment followed at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland.

Visitation was held Thursday evening, Feb. 26.

Interment followed at Memory Gardens of Jeffer-son County, Nederland.

Mrs. DeYoung was born March 23, 1930, in Port Ar-thur, the daughter of Bertha Corkran Nixon and Barney Allen Nixon. She married A.J. DeYoung on Aug. 28, 1948. He preceded her in death.

A 1948 graduate of Port Arthur Jefferson High School, Mrs. DeYoung was a proof auditor at Merchants Bank and later an internal auditor for Sabine Bank until she retired in 1982.

Prior to moving to Fredericksburg in 2003, the DeYoungs lived in Estes Park, Colorado.

She was a Fredericksburg resident until 2011 when she moved to Houston.

Over the years, she had been a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Port Ar-thur, Estes Park Baptist Church in Colorado and First Baptist Church of Fredericksburg.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Lauren DeYoung, and a daughter, Suzanne Walstad, all of Houston.

She is also survived by two grandchildren; one sister, Myrtle Dowden of Nederland; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Nixon of Bridge City.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. DeYoung was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel; and brother, Charles.

Lee K. Danielson Sr., 85, of Johnson City and formerly of Stonewall, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015.

Graveside services and interment will be held at 2 p.m., today, Wednesday, March 4, at the Johnson City Masonic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, the Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

CHARLES K. VOIGHT JR.

Charles K. Voigt Jr., 91, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, March 1, 2015.

A memorial service is planned at a later date.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Voigt was born July 23, 1923, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Charles K. Voigt Sr. and Elise Schevemann Voigt. He married Jane Bollinger on July 2, 1979. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by five children and spouses, including Kevin and Carol Voigt, of Boston, Massachusetts; Kari and Gary Wilson, Irving; Max and Sharon Shroedter, Virginia Beach, Virginia; William and Suzanne Schroedter, Englewood, Florida, and Peter and Karen Schroedter, Houston.

Survivors also include 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Mara Voigt of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

In addition to his wife and parents, Voigt was preceded in death a brother, Richard Voigt, and a sister, Anne Coen.

Memorials may be made to the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church Foundation, SPCA or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Anthony F. Tedesco, 83, nee Dolores Rosemarie Dimmick of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015.

A funeral mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Entombment of the cremains will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 14, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Columbarium.

MANUEL GALINDO

Manuel Galindo, 37, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, as the result of injuries received in a motor vehicle accident in Burnet County.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 7, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Reverends Robert Garcia and Gabriel Cruz officiating.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held Friday evening and Saturday morning at the funeral chapel.

Galindo was born Feb. 13, 1978, in Mexico, the son of Gustavo Galindo and Sophia Camacho Galindo.

Survivors include his wife, Neida Galindo of Fredericksburg; three children, Jazmin Elizabeth Galindo, Yatzari Naomi Galindo, and Augustine Arizola and his wife, Veronica.

He is also survived by two granddaughters; his mother, Sophia Camacho, and nine brothers and sisters: Daniel, Pedro, Sophia, Gustavo, Elizabeth, Alvino, Jorge, Dalila and Mayela Galindo Camacho.

Galindo was preceded in death by his father.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Daniel Galindo, Alvino Galindo, Jorge Galindo, Pedro Galindo, Gustavo Galindo and Augustine Arizola.

LEE K. DANIELSON SR.

Lee K. Danielson Sr., 85, of Johnson City and formerly of Stonewall, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015.

Graveside services and interment were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, at the Johnson City Masonic Cemetery with the Rev. William Karlson officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Danielson was born Aug. 10, 1929, in Torrington, Wyoming, the son of LeRoy Danielson and Henrietta Kelley Danielson. He married Annie Mullaley on Dec. 4, 1949, in San Antonio. She preceded him in death.

Danielson served in the United States Air Force and later joined the United States Secret Service. For many years, he worked at the LBJ Ranch at Stonewall.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Don Miller of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and Mary Lou and Bobby Langley of Luling.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three sisters, including Adoral Randall, Muriel Gross and Leslie Kniss.

Along with his wife and parents, Danielson was preceded in death by a son, Lee K. Danielson Jr.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, the Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of choice.

Leo Adolf Nebgen, 91, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Thursday, March 12, from 4-7 p.m., and Friday, March 13, from 7 a.m. until 1:45 p.m.

A vigil service will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 12, at the funeral home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m., Friday, March 13, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Graveside services with military honors and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. Egan Ray Miller, 94, nee Martha Carter of Marble Falls and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Friday, March 13, from 4-6 p.m.

The body will lie in state at First Baptist Church in Marble Falls from 9-10 a.m., Saturday, March 14.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 14, at First Baptist Church, Marble Falls.

Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington.

He is survived by one son, Branden Lawson of San Antonio, and two sisters, Marie Lawson of Missoula, Montana, and Carolyn Bailey and her husband, John, of Fredericksburg.

ROY ALAN CONNELLY

Roy Alan Connelly, 70, of Doss, died Saturday, March 7, 2015.

Graveside services with military honors and interment were held at 2:45 p.m., Monday, March 16, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

A memorial service was held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, at the Hilda United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Connelly was born May 13, 1944, in Montebello, California, the son of John Francis Connelly Jr. and Elizabeth Marilyn Anderson Connelly. He married Susan Marie Hannah in Los Angeles, California, on Aug. 2, 1969, and she survives.

A career military officer, Connelly retired from the United States Marine Corps with over 20 years of service. The pinnacle of his military service was commanding Marine Corps Helicopter Squadron HMA-169 at Camp Pendleton, California.

In earlier years, he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and earned his Eagle Scout award.

In retirement, the Connellys settled in Doss.

In addition to his wife, Connelly is survived by one son, two daughters and spouses, including Russell and Catherine Connelly of Raleigh, North Carolina; Christine Connelly of LaCanada, California, and Kimberly and John Richardson of Tampa, Florida.

Survivors also include five grandchildren; his father, John Francis Connelly Jr. of Ventura, California; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Chuck Genet of El Cajon, California, and a brother, Ron Connelly of LaCanada, California.

Connelly was preceded in death by his mother.

Memorials may be made to the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society or Cancer Research Institute.

Glenn M. Wilke Sr., 62, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 19, at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rick Hartmann officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Wilke was born Jan. 29, 1953, in Fredericksburg, the son of Wilhem (Bill) Wilke and Margaret Schlaudt Wilke. He married Teresa Ballard, who survives.

A Boerne High School graduate, Wilke was a United States Air Force veteran, having served in Vietnam.

Most recently, he was the pit master at Cranky Frank’s Barbecue.

In addition to his wife, Wilke is survived by two sons and two daughters, including Christopher Wilke, of Houston; Jennifer Wilke, Fredericksburg; Amy Feser and her husband, Mark, Round Rock, and Glenn Wilke Jr. and his wife, Denna, Jacksonville, Florida.

Survivors also include his mother, Margaret Wilke, Fredericksburg; five grandchildren, and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roland and Judy Wilke, Fredericksburg, and Karl and Pam Wilke, Albert.

Wilke was preceded in death by his father.

Memorials may be made to the Louis Jordan Post 244, American Legion, or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Egan Ray Miller, 94, nee Martha Carter, of Marble Falls and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Friday evening, March 13.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 14, at First Baptist Church in Marble Falls with the Rev. Weldon French officiating.

Graveside services and interment were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington.

Mrs. Miller was born March 25, 1920, in Browndell, the daughter of Horace T. Carter and Leona Rice Carter. She married Arthur A. Burdick Jr. in 1943. He died in 1967.

She married Egan Ray Miller on Sept. 12, 1968. He preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1989.

Mrs. Miller is survived by four daughters and spouses, including Michele and Stan Cozby, of Marble Falls; Pat and Richard Fitzgerald, Watauga; Paula and John Tarver, Lewisville, and Marty Land, Kingsland.

Survivors also include eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Mavis, Mrs. Fred T. Carter of Humble.

In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Carter and Ted Carter, and three sisters, Marietta Mahurin, Ruby Carter and Ruth Boelke.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, Fredericksburg Art Guild Scholarship, Mission Arlington, First Baptist Church of Marble Falls Building Fund or to the charity of choice.
