Jerome John Gold

Jerome John Gold, 84, of Uvalde, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, at Uvalde Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 24, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Uvalde with Chaplain Bill Ruff officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Rushing Estes Knowles Mortuary in Uvalde where visitation was held Sunday evening, Aug. 23.

Gold was born Sept. 22, 1930, in Fredericksburg, the son of Guenther Theodore Gold and Alma Knopp Gold. His wife, Jennielea, preceded him in death.

Gold served in the U.S. Navy.

He worked for Coca-Cola for 30 years, in bookkeeping and managing the plant. He was a member of the Lions Club and American Legion for many years.

Gold is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Randy Sloan of Uvalde and Patty and Mike Jett of Knippa.

Survivors also include six grandchildren, and one brother, George Gold of Bulverde.

In addition to his wife and parents, Gold was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Gold.

Pallbearers included Audie Ray Wienecke, Randy Lee Sloan, Shelby Sloan, Jerod Gold, Mike Jett and Zane Thomas.

Honorary pallbearers were George Gold, Bill Ruff, Ben Harp, Bobby Wienecke, James Wienecke and Leroy Lott.
