William Michael (Mike) Walker, 63, of Johnson City, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2015.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Johnson City.
Walker was born Sept. 19, 1951, in Wichita Falls, the son of Charles and Bonnie Jean Walker. He married Lydia Barrientes 43 years ago and she survives.
After attending Travis High School in Austin, Walker enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the 173rd Airborne Infantry division as a Spec. 4.
He was deployed to Vietnam and received numerous awards and citations for his service.
The Walkers settled in Johnson City in 1987. For a time, he operated a television repair shop, and then was employed by the Johnson City Housing Authority.
In addition to his wife, Walker is survived by two daughters, one son and spouses, including Michelle and Roy Burdett, Jennifer and Sid Shumake and Joseph and Kristi Walker.
Survivors also include six grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and John Holman; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles (Buddy) and Glenda Walker, and a brother-in-law, Gary Alexander.
Walker was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sue Ann Alexander.
