
MRS. JOHN T. CASTILLO
Mrs. John T. Castillo, 92, nee Epifania Contreras of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Reverends Fernando Zurita and D.G. McCoury officiating.
Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Sunday evening and Monday morning.
Mrs. Castillo was born Jan. 6, 1923, at Willow City, the daughter of Bictoriano Contreras and Maria Lopez Delgado Contreras. She married John Trejo Castillo on Sept. 27, 1937, in Ballinger. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Castillo is survived by 11 daughters, four sons and spouses, including Sophie Rios, of Wichita Falls; Domingo and Celia Castillo, North Richland Hills; Ernesto Castillo, Immokalee, Florida; Pete and Sandy Castillo, Duncanville; Magdalena Vondrasek, Newport, North Caroline; Judy and Everett Dean, Amarillo; Julie Garcia and Janie and J.R. Gonzales, all of Waco; and Olivia and Victor Rivera Sr., Janie and Lucio Borjas, Sara and Curtis Allerkamp, Sally and David Tatsch, Esther Castillo, Ricardo and Lydia Castillo, and Josephine Castillo, all of Fredericksburg.
Survivors also include 41 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Castillo was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Gallegos; a son, Albert Castillo, and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Mision de Candelilla, The Good Samaritan Center, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.
Pallbearers included Paul Lopez, Daniel Martinez, Martin Martinez, Jordan Rhoades, Joseph Vondrasek, Stephen Borjas and Eric Allerkamp.
