
DR. HENRY (HANK) GARTLEY
Dr. Henry (Hank) Gartley, 81, of Sun City, California, and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015.
A memorial service was held Sunday, Jan. 18, in Sun City, California, with the Rev. Chuck Klingman officiating.
Gartley was born April 27, 1933, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, the son of Howard and Mary Gartley.
After graduating from high school, Gartley enlisted in the U.S. Army where he met his first wife, Lois. After being severely injured in basic training, he was honorably discharged and the Gartleys moved to California in 1955 where they raised their family.
While working full time, Gartley attended chiropractic college and went on to practice chiropractic in Lakewood, California, for 28 years, retiring in 1995.
After retirement, he moved to Fredericksburg where he opened several small businesses, including the “Dog Haus”.
After spending eight years in Texas, he moved back to California and settled in Sun Meadows, Sun City for the past 11 years.
Gartley is survived by his second wife, Linda, of 40 years; five daughters and one son, including Judy and Ed Kramer, of Fredericksburg; Debbie and Dave Brown, Sheila and Jon Cowger, Susan and John Jones and Joseph and Ashley Gartley, all of California, and Lois and Bruce Genger of Nevada.
Survivors also include 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation or to the charity of choice.
