CLARENCE LLOYD NIXON

Clarence Lloyd Nixon, 96, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at Knopp Assisted Living Center.

A funeral mass was celebrated Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Scott Janysek officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist, and Liz Tynan, the vocalist.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and rosary services, led by Deacon Patrick Klein, were held Tuesday evening, Jan. 20.

Nixon was born Sept. 30, 1918, in Fredericksburg, the son of William Jasper Nixon and Octivia Louise Ransleben Nixon. He married Mary Margaret Jung on Feb. 10, 1940. She preceded him in death on Sept. 23, 2012.

He was a World War II veteran. For many years, was employed at Dooley’s Store.

Nixon is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Jim Nielsen of Stonewall; two sons, Kevin Nixon of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Kirk Nixon of Fort Worth; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

His wife and parents preceded him in death.

Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph’s Halle Restoration Fund or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Carl Nixon, Russel Jung, Kurran Eppler, Kyle Eppler, Brad Hardin and Dwight Hardin.
