WALTER F. HOHMANN

Walter F. Hohmann, 96, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. J. Jason Fry officiating. Judy Hickerson was the organist. Visitation was held beforehand.

Graveside services with military honors and interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Hohmann was born Jan. 28, 1918, in Fredericksburg, the son of Albert Henry Hohmann and Adele Clara Evers Hohmann. He married Irene Baag Braeutigam on April 24, 1999, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and she survives.

He was a rancher in the Willow City community and a member of Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.

A 1936 Fredericksburg High School graduate, Hohmann also attended Texas A&M University for one semester and then served in the military during World War II.

For many years, he worked in San Antonio and Fredericksburg.

In addition to his wife, Hohmann is survived by a step-daughter and spouse, Raynette and Charles Kuenemann; a brother, Raymond Hohmann of Willow City, and two sisters-in-law, Viola, Mrs. Elgin Hohmann, and Margaret, Mrs. Calvin Hohmann, both of Fredericksburg.

Hohmann was preceded in death by his parents, as well as two brothers, Elgin Hohmann and Calvin Hohmann.

Memorials may be made in his memory to Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, Willow City Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.
