Mrs. Walter Werner

Mrs. Walter Werner, 96, nee Emma Pauline Fischer of Comfort, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 8, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort with the Rev. Shelly Summont officiating.

Interment followed that afternoon in the Blanco Cemetery in Blanco.

Visitation was held Monday evening and Tuesday morning at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Werner was born Dec. 21, 1917, in Blanco County, the daughter of Herman Fischer and Emma Jonas Fischer. She married Walter Werner in February 1935 in Kendalia. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Melvin Werner of Comfort and Raymond Werner of Conroe.

Survivors also include eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Werner was preceded in death by a grandson, Tommy Dean Werner; a daughter-in-law, Von Blevins Werner; a son, Allen Werner; two brothers, Edgar Fischer and Alvin Fischer, and four sisters, including Hilda Fischer, Regina Fischer, Thekla Wengenroth and Norma Krause.

Memorials may be made to the Golden Age Center in Comfort, Immanuel Lutheran Church or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Tommy Guilbeau, Ottis Werner, Bryan Werner, Tom Gary, Chris Werner and Kyle Werner.
