James C. (JC) Duston

James C. (JC) Duston, 85, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, in a Georgetown nursing facility.

Graveside services and interment were held Saturday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. George N. Watts of Faith Baptist Church officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Duston was born Aug. 8, 1928, in Corpus Christi, the son of Tom and Effie Duston. He was married to Martha B. Richardson for 25 years.

On May 10, 1975, he married Marjorie Basse who preceded him in death in September 2002.

Duston was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.

He retired from the Lower Colorado River Authority where he had been a lineman.

Duston is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, including Karen and Howell Williams of Liberty Hill; Stephanie and Bobby Early, Austin, and Debra and Joe Bottalico, Georgetown.

Survivors also include three step-children: Linda Johnson and her husband, Grady, Lampasas; Dennis Basse, Del Rio, and Mike Basse, Kerrville.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Duston is also survived by a sister, Juanita Bryan of Mineola, and two sisters-in-law, Mary Sue Hayward of Laurel, Md., and Betty Lou Henderson of Dripping Springs.

Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church of Fredericksburg or to the charity of choice.
