CLARENCE ROBERT HOFFMAN

Clarence Robert Hoffman, 88, of Fredericksburg and formerly of Harlingen, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services and interment were held Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 1 p.m, at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito with Jay Cawthon officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Hoffman was born Nov. 13, 1925, in Harlingen, the son of Emil Wilhelm Hoffman and Clara Fischer Hoffman. He married Lou Ella Palmer. They had been married 62 years at the time she died.

A 1942 graduate of Harlingen High School, Hoffman was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Smalley.

He retired from Brown & Root in 1980 and previously worked for the Harlingen Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Hoffman was active in the Masonic Lodge and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Harlingen.

Hoffman is survived by two daughters, one son and spouses, including Carol and Wayne Wilkes of Lubbock; Patricia McMinn, Fredericksburg, and Melvin and Shawnna Hoffman, Flower Mound.

Survivors also include seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Hoffman was preceded in death by a brother, B.W. (Pete) Hoffman; a sister, Loreta Belle (Reta) Hansen, and a son-in-law, Regan H. McMinn Jr.
