Mrs. Mel Allen, 95, nee Linda Gaskins of Fredericksburg, died Monday, June 13, 2016.
A memorial service is planned at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.
Mrs. Allen was born July 31, 1920 in Berclair, the daughter of John Gaskins and Emma Mills Gaskins. She married Mel Allen on May 3, 1974, in Zapata, and he survives.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Allen is survived by two daughters, two sons and spouses, including Dorothy Ann Smith of Arizona; Charles Patrick and Carole Bridges and Linda Darlene and Ray Slough, all of Fredericksburg, and John Richard and Tracy Allen of Tomball, and one daughter-in-law, Jenny, Mrs. Leslie Allen of Yorktown.
Survivors also include 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Leslie Allen; four sisters and four brothers, including Dan Gaskins, Davis Gaskins, Archie Gaskins, Johnny Gaskins, Margaret Vickers, Lois Everett, Leona Gregory and Mary Louise Everett.
Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.
