
VERNE ALLEN
Verne Allen, 75, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, March 28, 2016.
A celebration of his life was held Sunday afternoon, April 17, at the Austin Street Java Haus.
Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.
Allen was born April 13, 1940, in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Roscoe Allen and Florence Beyers Allen. He married Cornelia (Binky) Buck and she survives.
A United States Air Force veteran, Allen served for 24 years and retired as a colonel.
He and his wife owned and operated Austin Street Java Haus for 20 years.
In addition to his wife, Allen is survived by a daughter, Lisa Allen of Liberty Hill, and a stepson, James Wilson and his wife, Karin, of Omaha, Nebraska, and two granddaughters.
He is also survived by the following siblings: James Allen and his wife, Patricia of Houston; Daniel Allen and his wife, Theresa of Mt. Vernon, Washington, and Vickie McNeese of Fort Collins, Colorado.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents; a step-daughter Diane Cobis; two sons, Mitchel Allen and Verne (Tige) Allen Jr., and two brothers, Neal Allen who died in childhood, and Terry Allen.
Memorials may be made to the National Ataxia Foundation, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or the charity of choice.
