Iris Gillis Britton

Iris Britton, 98, nee Gillis, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, March 6, 2016.

No services are planned at this time.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Britton was born Jan. 11, 1918, in Pampa, the daughter of Christopher Gillis and Viola Eller Gillis. She was married to William Kenneth Britton who preceded her in death.

She was the first female Aircraft Quality Control Specialist at Alameda Naval Air Station, Alameda, California.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Shelley Britton, and a daughter, Kaylou Britton, all of Fredericksburg; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Clarice Jones of Amarillo.
