Joachim Clemens (J.C.) Moellendorf, 86, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, May 2, 2015.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Wednesday, May 6, from 4-8 p.m., and Thursday, May 7, from 7-9:45 a.m.

A vigil service will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, at the funeral chapel.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 7, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Graveside services with military honors and entombment will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s School Help a Student, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

FREDA DAVIS DORAN

Freda Davis Doran, 74, of Kingwood and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Monday, April 13, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 2, in the chapel at Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Ms. Doran was born Dec. 22, 1940, the daughter of Stokes Davis and Lois Roberson Davis. She married Donald Doran.

A 1959 graduate of Galena Park High School, Ms. Doran worked in the Houston area for a number of years, moving to Fredericksburg in the 1980’s.

At age 46, she entered nursing school and graduated as a licensed vocational nurse.

She worked and lived in Fredericksburg for many years before retiring to the Houston area.

Ms. Doran is survived by a daughter, Valerie Doran Cadden and her husband, Michael Dyer; two grandchildren; one brother, Joe Davis, and one sister, Ida Catherine Hester.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Bobby Davis.

Linda Ann Carlisle, 57, nee Boerum, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, April 23, 2015.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Ms. Carlisle was born April 30, 1957, in Norwalk, Connecticut, the daughter of Chester Boerum and Shirley Searles Boerum.

She is survived by five children, including A.J. Lujano, of Austin; Gregg Scott, Leander; Vanessa Stenulson and her husband, Aaron, Austin; Zachary Carlisle and Emily Carlisle, both of Fredericksburg.

Survivors also include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark and Sharon Boerum and Tom and Linda Boerum, all of California.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Joseph T. (Joe) Bradford Jr., 65, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at TriStar Nursing and Rehab Center.

A celebration of his life was held at 5 p.m., Thursday, April 30, at the VFW Hall.

Bradford was born Jan. 29, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Joseph Thomas Bradford Sr. and Mary Alice Cavness Bradford.

He is survived by one brother, Jack Bradford of California.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Charles R. Becker, 86, nee Norma Mae Hanson, of Ingram and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, May 2, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., today, Wednesday, May 6, at Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ann I. Hoch officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Becker was born Aug. 22, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Harry Hanson and Lenora Aldrich Hanson. She married Charles Robert Becker on Aug. 27, 1949, in East St. Louis, Illinois. He preceded her in death.

In addition to being a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Becker belonged to the Vereins Quilt Guild and the Hill Country Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs. Becker is survived by two sons, one daughter and spouses, including Greg and Tia Becker, of Reeds Spring, Missouri; Susan and Rick Johnson, Ingram, and Tom and Beckie Becker, Carrollton.

Survivors also include four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a sister and brother-in-law, Neva and John Speas, Tucson, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Memorials may be made to the Hill Country Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

WILBUR ARNDT (BILL) WAGNER

Wilbur Arndt (Bill) Wagner, 87, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 4 p.m., Friday, May 8, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with hospice chaplain Al Campbell officiating.

Visitation was held beforehand.
Wagner was born Dec. 31, 1927, in McIntosh County, North Dakota, the son of Ben and Katherine Wagner. He married Lonita Schlaudt on Jan. 11, 1951, and she survives.

Wagner was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1945-1946, as well as a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1948-1957.

For many years, he owned and operated Bill’s Ice House, which was located on West Main Street at the site of the current JEK’s West.

In addition to his wife, Wagner is survived by four sons, one daughter and spouses, including Keith and Vickie Wagner, of Plano; Barry and Maureen Wagner, Fredericksburg; Lynette Sralla, San Antonio; Ron Wagner, Fredericksburg, and Kevin Wagner, Dallas.

Survivors also include nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

Wagner was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ella O’Neill; four step-brothers, and a sister who died in infancy.

Memorials may be made to Alamo Hospice of Boerne, Hill Country Memorial Hospital or to the charity of choice.

Dorothy Nell Futrell Peoples

DOROTHY NELL PEOPLES

Dorothy Nell Futrell Peoples, 92, of Fredericksburg and formerly of Rockwall, died Thursday, May 7, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rockwall, with interment following at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Peoples was born Nov. 13, 1922, in Forney, the daughter of Joseph Wiley Futrell and Lois Mabel Futrell.

After attending Heath elementary schools, she graduated from Forney High School in 1939.

During WWII, she trained as a Red Cross volunteer nurse at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas and was then deployed to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where she cared for wounded soldiers. For her service, she is included in the Women in Military Service Memorial in Washington, DC.

She then began a career, in Rockwall, working for the State of Texas in the Department of Human Resources, where she retired after 30 years of service.

Over the years, she attended the Heath and Rockwall Baptist churches, and was a member of the Rockwall Historical Society.

In 2012, Mrs. Peoples moved to Fredericksburg.

Mrs. Peoples is survived by one son, Fred Peoples of Dallas; and two daughters, Suzanne Peoples of Austin, and Cindy Bennett and her husband, Marc, of Fredericks-burg.

Survivors also include two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one sister, Ava Norred of Katy.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Peoples was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Russell Peoples; four sisters: Emily Faye Futrell, Toinette Kidd, Amedrith Peck and Allegra Bell Chapman, and two brothers, Weldon Futrell and James Lowe Futrell.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, the Rockwall Historical Society or to the charity of choice.

Andrea Carrillo Estrada, 79, of Fredericksburg and Austin, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at TriStar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service is planned at a later date.

Mrs. Estrada was born June 1, 1935, in Austin, the daughter of Artero and Julia Carrillo.

She is survived by her daughter, Adrianna Estrada Hill, and two grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Estrada was preceded in death by one son, Mark E. Jimenez; twin sister, Guadalupe C. (Lupe) Limon, and three brothers, Miguel Carrillo, Lucas Carrillo and Albert Carrillo.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

H. Buford Durst, 72, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, May 7, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 9, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Priem officiating.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Friday evening, May 8.

Durst was born Feb. 17, 1943, in Fredericksburg, the son of Harold H. Durst and Wilma Felps Durst. He married JoAnn Mogford on March 28, 1962, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Durst is survived by one son, one daughter and spouses, including Shannon and Gracelyn Durst and Desiree and Ryan Botkin, all of Austin, and three grandchildren.

Survivors also include two brothers and one sister and spouses, including Keith and Alice Durst, of Oak Island; Ronald and Vicki Durst, San Antonio, and Janice Dodd, Fredericksburg.

Memorials may be made to the Pedernales Creative Arts Alliance (PCAA), Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Holy Ghost Lutheran Church or the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Ken Friedrich, Bill Rogers, Roger Lewis, Will Durst, Robert Botkin and Bernard Scrogin.

Clemens Christian Heinen

CLEMENS CHRISTIAN HEINEN

Clemens Christian Heinen, 93, of Comfort, died Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Knopp Retirement Center in Fredericksburg.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, at Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort with the Reverends Jim Holt and Pam Traver officiating.

Interment followed in the Comfort Cemetery.

Visitation was held the evening and morning before, at the funeral chapel.

Heinen was born May 28, 1921, in Comfort, the son of Arthur Heinen and Ida Lindemann Heinen. He married Adelheid Lillian (Aite) Biermann on Sept. 21, 1941, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Comfort. They had been married 71 years at the time she died.

Over the years, the Heinens were active in the Comfort Chamber of Commerce, their church and volunteering.

They operated a dairy and later owned and operated three different grocery stores in the Comfort area over a period of 30 years.

Heinen enjoyed playing baseball while in high school. After graduating, he tried out for the San Antonio Missions and was selected for the team. But, before they were able to play their first game, World War II started and the Missions team, as well as many other teams, folded for lack of players.

Unable to join the military due to health issues, he returned to Comfort. He joined the Broncos, a local baseball team, and played with them for many years.

Heinen is survived by a niece, Mary Louise Rossman, of Goodyear, Arizona, and a nephew, Robert Heinen and his wife, Barbara, of Fredericksburg, as well as numerous nieces and nephews from his wife’s side of the family.

In addition to his wife and parents, Heinen was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin Henry (B.H.) Heinen.

Memorials may be made to the Comfort Volunteer Fire Department.

Pallbearers included Anthony Bohnert, Chris Lindemann, Max Below, Hugh Murphy, Don Biermann and Jeffrey Lawrence.

Clayton Louis Eckhardt, 79, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Windcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 14, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Bage officiating.

Interment followed at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery at Cave Creek.

Visitation was held Thursday morning before the funeral.

Eckhardt was born May 11, 1935, in Gillespie County, the son of Bruno Eckhardt and Elsie Mohr Eckhardt.

Survivors include one sister, Betty Nichols of Austin.

Eckhardt’s parents preceded him in death.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Curtis Eckhardt, Dayton Eckhardt, Martin Mohr, Steven Mohr, Josh Nichols, Ryan Nichols, Jerry Prochnow and Kenneth Sagebiel.
