Shirley Dean Mangum

Shirley Dean Mangum, 80, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Pam Traver officiating.

Afterwards, the body was cremated.

Mrs. Mangum was born Aug. 23, 1935, in Cayuga, the daughter of Roy Rye Davis and Ethel Dean Davis. On July 28, 1953, she married Raymond Jerome Mangum in Falfurrias. He preceded her in death.

For 18 years, Mrs. Mangum worked as a medical secretary. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother and volunteered at MHMC for 13 years.

The Mangums moved to Fredericksburg in December 1999. They attended Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Mangum is survived by one son, Michael Mangum of Eagle Lake; a daughter-in-law, Susan Mangum of Longview, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Mangum was preceded in death by one son, Larry Mangum; one sister, and one brother.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Joshua Mangum, Aaron Mangum, Andy Mangum, Larry Aduddell, Larry Mooris and Joe Blount.

Honorary pallbearers were Marvin Aduddell, Jessie Lawerence, Larry Thomas and Rusty Barnes.
