ANDREW A. RODE

Andrew A. Rode, 86, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Christ Lutheran Church at Cherry Spring with the Rev. Mark A. Ward officiating.

Interment followed in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening, Nov. 30.

Rode, a resident of the Cherry Spring community, was born June 17, 1929, in Gillespie County, the son of Regu A. Rode and Ida Dittmar Rode. He married Theresa D. Lange on April 11, 1953, and she survives.

He went to the Cherry Spring School through the 11th grade and then attended Fredericksburg High School for his senior year. 

Rode was a farmer and rancher and worked at the Llano Livestock Auction for over 20 years.

He was also a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, Rode is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Crael Rode of Mena, Arkansas; a daughter, Kay Schlaudt of Fredericksburg; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by six sisters and spouses, including Helen and Carroll Hoffmann, of Geronimo; Emeline Stubblefield, Fredericksburg; Marion Stewart, McGregor; Rosalind and Roy Neuman, Crawford; Idabell Erickson, Gonzales, Louisiana, and Irene and Tracy Merz, Fredericksburg; and one sister-in-law, Opal Rode, Llano.

Rode was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, David Rode and Leroy Rode.

Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Doug Husfeld, Ryan Schneider, Tommy Perkins, John Merz, Bret Stubblefield, Kurt Stubblefield, Todd Stubblefield and Tobin Hoffmann.
