OLIVIA 'DOODLE' SCHMIDT
Mrs. Marcus (Mike) Schmidt, 96, nee Olivia (Doodle) Herbort, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at Knopp Assisted Living Center.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Vitek officiating.
Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation was held Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning at the funeral chapel.
Mrs. Schmidt was born May 4, 1919, in the Grapetown community, the daughter of Harry Herbort and Ella Klinksiek Herbort. She married Marcus Louis (Mike) Schmidt on July 23, 1939, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Rectory in Fredericksburg. He preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1987.
Mrs. Schmidt is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Steve Feller, of Kingwood, and Joan and Terry Bonn, of Fredericksburg.
Survivors also include three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Annie Mae, Mrs. Calvin (Monnie) Herbort.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Schmidt was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Herbort and Calvin (Monnie) Herbort.
Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Grapetown School or to the charity of choice.
Pallbearers included Spencer Feller, Garret Bonn, Allen Herbort, Royce Herbort, Larry Stahl, Tom Proch and Beecher Proch.
