Mrs. Dayton Kuhlmann

Mrs. Dayton Kuhlmann, 84, nee Mary Louise Jenschke of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 9, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with Deacon Patrick Klein officiating.

Mary Ann Murchison was the organist and Tricia Eilers, the vocalist.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation was held Thursday evening and Friday morning at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Kuhlmann was born Dec. 20, 1930, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Richard Jenschke and Bertha Fritz Jenschke. She married Dayton Kuhlmann on Dec. 29, 1949, in Fredericksburg and he survives.

For many years, she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Fredericksburg Paint and Body Shop.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Kuhlmann is survived by three daughters and spouses, including Joan and Kevin Wood and Lorna and Gary Eckhardt, all of Fredericksburg, and Vanessa and Oscar Palacios of Houston.

Survivors also include five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Ignatz and Norma Jean Jenschke of Fredericksburg; two brothers-in-law, Homer Hahne of San Antonio and Clayton Kuhlmann of San Angelo, and two sisters-in-law, Nellie Mills of San Antonio and Erline Jenschke of Fredericksburg.

Mrs. Kuhlmann was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons, Garrett Wade Staats and Christopher (Chris) Staats; one sister, Elizabeth Hahne; two brothers, James Jenschke and Marcus Jenschke.

Memorials may be made to the Chris Staats Memorial Scholarship Fund, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Jon Cheek, Richard Terry, Matthew Wood, Kevin Wood, Oscar Palacios, Gary Eckhardt and Lloyd Weber.
