Mrs. Conrad Matysiak Sr.

Mrs. Conrad Matysiak Sr., 93, nee Kathlyn Grodhaus of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at Windcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sid Spiller officiating.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

Mrs. Matysiak was born July 12, 1922, in Baytown, the daughter of Adolf Grodhaus and Lorene Fordyce Grodhaus. She married Conrad Matysiak Sr. on March 28, 1941, in Baytown. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2004.

She is survived by one daughter, Janelle Duree of Baytown, and a son, Conrad Matysiak Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Stonewall.

Survivors also include eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Mazie, Mrs. Bill Grodhaus of Fredericksburg, and a brother-in-law, Sherry Faulk of Smithville.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Matysiak was preceded in death by a sister, Margrate Faulk, and two brothers, Ray Grodhaus and Bill Grodhaus.

Memorials may be made to the Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department, Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Troy Matysiak, Glenn Hensarling, Jeremey Hensarling, Jacob Hartmann, Lynn Hartmann and Trent Sousa.

Honorary pallbearers included Brian Matysiak, Chase Matysiak, Lynn Clary, Joshua Sousa, Jordan Hartmann and Blake Hensarling.
