Doris M. Pinner

Doris M. Pinner, 95, nee Marheinke of Fredericksburg and formerly of Comfort, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 25, at St. Boniface Episcopal Church in Comfort.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pinner was born Sept. 23, 1919, in Staten Island, New York, the daughter of Walter Marheinke and Elizabeth Fleckenstein Marheinke.

She was a World War II veteran, serving as a nurse in the U.S. Navy.

After military service, Mrs. Pinner worked as a chiropractor and at the University of Texas Dental School in Houston until her retirement. She moved to the Hill Country in 2005.

Mrs. Pinner was one of the oldest WWII veterans in Gillespie County and had the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. in September 2013 on an Honor Flight.

She is survived by one son, Walter Royse of Katy; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Robin Giles of Comfort; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, the American Diabetes Association, Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch or to the charity of choice.
