
DR. MARVIN (NICK) BENNACK
Dr. Marvin (Nick) Bennack, 85, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, May 15, 2015.
A memorial service was held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 30, at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sid Spiller officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.
Bennack was born Oct. 2, 1929, in Pleasanton, the son of George Bennack and Jane Stewart Bennack. He married Marjorie Meriwether on May 27, 1951, and she survives.
Bennack grew up in Raymondville. After graduating from Texas A&I University at Kingsville, he was accepted into the University of Texas Dental School, receiving his dental license in 1956.
After serving two years in the United States Air Force, the Bennacks returned to Raymondville where he practiced dentistry. After retiring from dentistry, he obtained his pilot’s license to fly single engine airplanes and flew both commercially and as an instructor.
In 1995, the Bennacks moved to Fredericksburg. He sang in the Fredericksburg Chorale for several years, was a member of PCAA, the FUMC Chancel Choir, Fredericksburg-Montabaur Sister City Verein, Fredericksburg R.C. Model Airplane Club, and was a volunteer at the Golden Hub.
In addition to his wife, Bennack is survived by three children, Lee Bennack and Debbie Etter, both of San Antonio, and Barton Bennack of Dallas.
Survivors also include three grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Joy Bennack, of Lyford, and a sister-in-law, Jane Bennack, of Alpine.
