Ruth (Metza) Ottmers

Ruth (Metza) Ottmers, 86, nee Mayer, of Stonewall, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 30, at Trinity Lutheran Church at Stonewall with the Rev. Percy Smerek officiating.  Ada Smerek was organist, and Eileen Ottmers, pianist.

Interment followed in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Friday evening, May 29.

Mrs. Ottmers was born Oct. 3, 1928, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Edgar Mayer and Edna Maenius Mayer. She married Ewald (Pete) Ottmers 68 years ago and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ottmers is survived by three sons, two daughters and spouses, including Roger Ottmers and Leland and Eileen Ottmers, all of Stonewall; and Ricky and Carol Ottmers, Daisy and Keith Schneider and Pansy and Berry Benedict, all of Fredericksburg.

Survivors also include nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ottmers was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ferdinand Mayer, and an infant sister, Sophie Mayer.

Pallbearers included Jeremy Ottmers, Quintin Ottmers, Daniel Benedict, Allan Hardison, Nick Clark, Drew Benedict, Cheston Benedict and Wesley Rheinhardt.

The granddaughters, grandsons, pallbearers’ spouses and great-grandchildren were the honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Trinity Lutheran Church or the Stonewall First Responders.
