Maxine Ross Roussel

Maxine Ross Roussel, 91, nee McClatchey, of Arthur City, died Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Stillhouse Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Paris, Texas.

Graveside services and interment were held at 3 p.m., Thursday, April 9, in Fredericksburg at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Arrangements were under the direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home of Paris, Texas.

Mrs. Roussel was born Feb. 12, 1924, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Russell McClatchey and Marjorie Ida Wiltamuth McClatchey. She married Albert A. Roussel, April 9, 1944. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2008.

Prior to marriage, Mrs. Roussel attended nurses training. Later on, she worked in the Comal County tax and licensing office in New Braunfels for several years.

She also worked for a period of time as an office manager for an ophthalmologist in Austin and also for the Friedrich Air Conditioning Co. in San Antonio.

At one time, she was the director of the child care center at Fort Sam Houston.

Mrs. Roussel is survived by three daughters and spouses, including Kathryn and John Torres of San Antonio, Karen and Fred Erben and Karna and Richard Hinton, all of Arthur City.

Survivors also include 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Roussel was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth John Roussel; one sister, Gail Ackerman, and a brother-in-law, Joseph Roussel.
