Mario Rios Perez, 71, of Cedar Creek and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehab.
A funeral mass was celebrated Friday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stonewall with the Rev. Scott Janysek officiating.
Interment followed at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Stonewall.
Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a vigil service were held Thursday evening, Jan. 29.
Perez was born April 15, 1943, in Junction, the son of Rudolpho Perez and Andrea Rios Perez.
He is survived by six daughters, five sons and spouses, including Manuel Perez, of Comfort; Norma Jean Perez and David Anderson, Ingram; Yolanda Ortiz, Dallas; Armando Rubio, Austin; Janie and James Coomes, Kentucky; Margie and Paul Rivera, Fredericksburg; Betty Ann Perez, Oklahoma; Bode Perez, Crystal City; Tony Youngblood, Michigan; Andrea Youngblood, Michigan, and Edwardo and Tiffany Armas, Ingram.
Survivors also include 25 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by one brother, six sisters and spouses, including Martin and Tina Perez, of Fredericksburg; Jane and Tony Cantu, San Antonio; Delma Perez, Kerrville; Sylvia and Leandro Cantu, Llano; Elida Rodriguez, Kerrville; Mary Ann and Johnny Cantu, San Antonio; Lucy Perez and Pete Reyes, Stonewall.
Perez was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Perez and Rudy Perez Jr.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or to the charity of choice.
Pallbearers included Johnny Rios, Sylvester Rios Jr., Ernest Rios, Ernesto Perez, Emilio Perez Jr. and Paul Castillo Jr.
