Bobby Joe Banes

Bobby Joe Banes, 74, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2014.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with the Rev. George Watts officiating.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held Friday afternoon before the funeral.

Banes was born April 13, 1940, in Nyota, Alabama, the son of Charlie M. Banes and Margaret Banes. He married Carla Reid on Feb. 13, 1972, in Galveston County, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Banes is survived by three children and spouses, including Connie and Kevin Miller of Celina; Richard and Debra Ricks of Spring, and Rob and Jenice Ricks of Humble; 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Charlene and Jay Capers of Cold Springs, and a brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Connie Banes of Cleveland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Pedernales Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) or the charity of one’s choice.

Pallbearers included Randy Banes, Greg Capers, Jack Glass, J.R. Case, Ken Welch, Robert Arismendi, Kyle Ricks and Tim Smith.
