
LARRY DYER
Larry Dyer, 88, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014.
Services were held Saturday, Aug. 16, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with Joe Kammlah officiating. Visitation was held beforehand.
Private burial of his ashes will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Dyer was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Abington, Pennsylvania, the son of Lawrence and Mira Dyer.
His first wife, Maria, preceded him in death. He married Maurine Jones on March 30, 1984, in Anahuac, and she survives.
Dyer was a retired captain with the United States Merchant Marine.
In addition to his wife, Dyer is survived by the following children: Christina Edwards and her husband, Ken, of Austin; Michael Dyer and his wife, Valerie Cadden, Houston; Becky Redman, Abilene; Tommy Wadley and his wife, Debra, Abilene; Jimmy Wadley and his wife, Poette, Abilene; Mike Wadley and his wife, Kathy, Baytown, and Byron Wadley and his wife, Jane, Longview.
Survivors also include 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and David Werritt, Pikesville, Pennsylvania.
In addition to his first wife and his parents, Dyer was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Earl Redman.
Memorials may be made to the Optimist Club of Fredericksburg or to the charity of choice.
