Mrs. Alois W. Kunz

Mrs. Alois W. Kunz, 86, nee Madeline Margaret Segner of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral mass was celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist, and Tricia Eilers, the vocalist.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a vigil service were held Tuesday evening, Aug. 5.

Mrs. Kunz was born Oct. 22, 1927, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Otto Segner and Ida Nebgen Segner. She married Alois W. Kunz on June 15, 1947, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1990.

Survivors include one son, one daughter and spouses, Chris and Rhonda Kunz of San Antonio and Susan and Ferris Keller of Pflugerville; five grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Kunz was preceded in death by a son, Michael D. Kunz; two sisters, Dora, Mrs. Robert Maurer, and Elizabeth, Mrs. Alfred Pehl, and two brothers, John Segner and Alex Segner.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Jeff Kunz, Ronald Kunz, Billy Pehl, Sammy Segner, Dennis Segner and Kermit Rahe.
