Irene Roberts

Irene Roberts, 99, nee Tobin, of Harper, died Sunday, May 18, 2014.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 21, at 2 p.m. at Wild Ride Ministries Church in Harper with the Rev. Mike Weaver officiating.

Interment followed in the Harper Community Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Tuesday evening, May 20.

Mrs. Roberts was born July 21, 1914, in Harper, the daughter of Robert Houston Tobin and Theresa Ann Weathers Tobin. She married Roy Roberts on March 19, 1932. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Sue Black of Harper and Beverly Taylor of Eagle Lake, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by one son, Maurice (Buddy) Roberts; two sisters, Georgia Dorough and Grace Scarborough, and four brothers, including Hardin Tobin, Nolan Tobin, Richard Tobin and Marvin Tobin.

Memorials may be made to Wild Ride Ministries, Harper Volunteer Fire Department and EMS, Harper Community Cemetery or to the charity of choice.  

Pallbearers included Stephen Taylor, Travis Black, Ty Black, Joe Stephens, Donnie Phillips, Buzzy Parker, Jordan Wallis and Charles Black.

Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Skipper, James V. Roberts, Pickett Dorough, Coney Dorough, Howard Walker, Levi Ellebracht and Danny Meyer.
