Elizabeth (Betty) Scheck

Elizabeth (Betty) Scheck, nee Fry, 74, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014.

A memorial service was held Saturday, March 1, at 2 p.m. at the VFW Hall.

Arrangements were under the direction of Mason Funeral Home of Mason.

Mrs. Scheck was born Feb. 11, 1940, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of George Sydney Fry and Mary Lenore Cavender Fry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Scheck.

She was raised in Illinois and taught elementary school after graduating from college.

She also owned a tavern in Illinois.

Mrs. Scheck moved to Fredericksburg in 1993 and was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School.

When her children were young, she was active with Cub Scouting.

Mrs. Scheck is survived by one daughter, Jennifer McCort Kunz and her husband, Robert, of Fredericksburg, and a sister, Penny Myers of Racine, Wisc.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Scheck was preceded in death by a son, Marc McCort.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, the American Cancer Society or to the charity of choice.
