Mrs. Harold (Oily) Dietel

      Mrs. Harold (Oily) Dietel, 98, nee Annie Clara Zenner of San Antonio and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Friday, May 13, 2016.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist and Tricia Eilers, the vocalist.

Interment followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a vigil service were held Wednesday evening, May 18.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 102 S. Audubon Dr., San Antonio.

Mrs. Dietel was born May 10, 1918, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Arthur Zenner and Tillie Loth Zenner. She married Harold (Oily) Dietel on Oct. 5, 1940, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1994.

She is survived by two daughters, two sons and spouses, including Betty and Robert Harper, Arthur and Janet Dietel and Bonnie Dobson and Preston Smith, all of San Antonio, and Dan and Judy Dietel of Helotes.

Survivors also include five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Dietel was preceded in death by one grandson, David Dobson; one brother, Robert (Sonny) Zenner, and three sisters, Florine Stehling, Marjorie Petsch and Louise Kunz.

Memorials may be made to the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Department, St. Francis Nursing Home in San Antonio or to the charity of choice.

Pallbearers included Daniel Dietel, Bryce Harper, Greg Hayden, Patrick Kunz, Douglas Zenner and Roger Zenner.
