Mrs. Joseph (Fred) Schandua

Mrs. Joseph (Fred) Schandua, 75, nee Sharon Leifeste of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with Joe McSparin officiating.

Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery with Joseph Covert leading the graveside service.

Visitation was held Friday evening and Saturday morning at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Schandua was born Oct. 14, 1940, in Mason, the daughter of John Clarence Leifeste and Odessa Churchwell Leifeste. She married Joseph Frederick (Fred) Schandua on Dec. 2, 1977, in Fredericksburg and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Schandua is survived by one daughter, one son and spouses, Terry and Cindy Moehle of Port Lavaca and Cindy and Rick Moore of College Station, and a step-son and spouse, James and Dolores Schandua of Corpus Christi.

Survivors also include three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by one brother, one sister and spouses, C.H. and Louise Leifeste of New Jersey and Elaine and Sonny Howard of Pittsburgh, Texas.

Mrs. Schandua was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Robin Moehle and Chuck Moehle; one grandson, John Schandua, and one sister, JoAnn Bonn.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.
