MRS. LAWRENCE METZGER

Mrs. Lawrence Metzger, 100, nee Edna Olga Grobe of Garden Ridge and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Dec.  20, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Grace Memorial Church in New Braunfels. Visitation was held beforehand.

Interment was held later Tuesday afternoon at Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home of Fredericksburg.

Mrs. Metzger was born Aug. 27, 1915, in Blanco, the daughter of August Grobe and Emma Oehler Grobe. She married Lawrence Metzger on Aug. 5, 1939, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Metzger is survived by one daughter, one son and spouses, Larry and Lil Metzger of San Antonio and Sheryl and James Burdell of Austin.

Survivors also include five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by one sister, Vera Brookover of San Antonio; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clayton and Rosa Grobe of Doss and Clemens and Bobbie Grobe of San Antonio; a sister-in-law, Esther Grobe of Fredericksburg, and a brother-in-law and spouse, Archie and Mary Moczygemba of Taylor.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Metzger was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers, including Eddie Grobe, Alfred Grobe, Marvin Grobe, Elsie McDougall, Meta Mohr and Wesley Grobe.

Memorials may be made to Grace Memorial Church, New Braunfels or to the charity of choice.
