Edwin (Jack) Straube

Edwin (Jack) Straube, 81, of Fredericksburg and formerly of Doss, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the organist and Tricia Eilers, the vocalist.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a rosary service were held Sunday evening, Dec. 20.

Straube was born Feb. 28, 1934, in Gillespie County, the son of William Charles Straube and Theresa Staudt Straube. He married Rose Marie Lange on Nov. 19, 1952, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on Jan. 22, 2009.

Straube is survived by three daughters, two sons and spouses, including Pat and Tammy Straube, Marcie and Harvey Klein and Mary and David Wiemers, all of Fredericksburg; Carol and Steve Rodgers of Marble Falls, and David and Lupe Straube of Kingsland.

Survivors also include 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by three sisters, two brothers and spouses, including Helen, Mrs. Allen Klein; Rosa and Clayton Grobe; Margaret, Mrs. Jimmy Loitz; Lawrence and Arnette Straube, and Robert and Lin Straube, all of Fredericksburg, and a brother-in-law, Noel Permenter of Manor.

In addition to his wife, Straube’s parents preceded him in death.
